Exciting Swims at Senior and Junior Nationals

The Irvine Aquatics Center hosted both the 2010 U.S.A. Senior and Junior National Swim Competitions, in early August, and both meets produced exciting swims for The Claremont Club Swim Team.

At Senior Nationals, Noelle Tarazona finished 11th overall in the women’s 200 meter butterfly (2:12.11) and 22nd in the 400 meter I.M. (4:50.81).

The following week, she swam even faster at Junior Nationals placing 3rd in the 200 butterfly (2:12.09) and 2nd in the 400 I.M. (4:47.02).

Noelle had lifetime bests in the 100 butterfly (1:01.76), placing 17th and 200 I.M. (2:19.03), finishing 12th.

Based on her swims at both meets, Noelle was selected as a member of the 2010 U.S.A. Pan Pacific Championship Team.

Michael Haney, 15, had a super swim in the 100 meter free (52.18) and placed17th overall.  He also had personal bests in the 400 free (4:02.79) and 200 butterfly (2:07.23).

Sonia Wang, 13, competed in her first long course junior meet and scored an impressive 22nd in the 400 meter I.M. (4:57.88).   She also swam the 100 and 200 butterfly, 200 free and 200 I.M.

Oriana Wang, 15, competed in the 200 and 400 meter free, 100 butterfly and 200 I.M.

Dylan Gabel concluded his age group career with best times in the 200 meter back (2:08.54) and 800 free (8:27.06).

Kate Santilena, Kyle Coan, Jason Haney, and Brandon Porter contributed on team relays.  TCC qualified both the men’s and women’s 400 and 800 meter free relays.
